Chateau Whistler Golf Club A Course To Play

www.golfingnews.ca
Starting a seventh successful season at the Chateau Whistler Golf Club this year will be the ever-popular PROSHOT GPS Satellite Yardage System in color.  Installed in each of the course's golf carts.  The system was designed to benefit golfers by providing scrolling information including yardage from the cart to the middle of the green, distance to and over hazards and basic information previously supplied by a caddie.  This provides information that enables players to make more accurate, information based decisions on how to play the course.
The yardage given is accurate within one yard and the ability to see the carts in front of you is a definite advantage.  According to Corporate Director of Golf, Murray Blair, 'this system gives back the Resort golfer the experience that a caddie used to provide.  We also expect a quicker round for our guests as this system eliminates the need for searching for yardage markers.  It does not provide information with regard to wind direction or barometric pressure.'
All 80 carts at the 18 hole, par-72 Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed course are equipped with the yardage system at no additional charge.  This impeccably maintained mountain course, at the foot of the tallest vertical ski slope in North America, Blackcomb Mountain, has panoramas to dazzle even the most seasoned of golfer.  'Listen to the land' was Robert Trent Jones JR's motto and he was certainly in tune with terrain when he created thecourse, which rises over 300 feet, traverses mountain ledges and crosses rushing streams.

As Cochrane and his team of professionals prepare for the 2003 season at Chateau Whistler Golf Club, they look forward to upholding and reinforcing the course's award winning reputation.  'Chateau Whistler Golf Club is committed to being the leader in providing our guests the finest mountain golf experience, and with our new Practice and Learning Facility this year' claims Cochrane.  Chateau Whistler Golf Club, by no small coincidence was awarded the Best New Canadian Course by Golf Digest when it opened in 1993.  Since then, the course has received the Best of Golf Award from Links Magazine (1995) and the Golden Links Award from Corporate Meetings and Incentives Magazine (1994 & 1995). Canada's Golf Course Ranking Magazine gave the Chateau Whistler course it's 'Platinum' rating for 1997, and Golf Digest has again rated the course 4 stars (2003), which is a must play rating.
