The Official Fantasy Golf Game of the PGA TOUR Offers Weekly and Segment Prizes
Yahoo! Sports, the leading online sports destination and fantasy game provider, and PGATOUR.COM, the official site of the PGA TOUR, unveiled Fantasy Golf ‘09, the official free fantasy game of the PGA TOUR. Golf fans can enjoy the ultimate fantasy experience, complete with access to PGA TOUR video, statistical information, and editorial commentary. Fantasy Golf ‘09 also includes all of the valuable features for which Yahoo! Sports is known for, such as deep integration of stats and player data, as well as stability and reliability.

The weekly games began with the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship, and registration ends on September 23 with THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca Cola. This covers the PGA TOUR Regular Season and PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Each week, the team with the best fantasy performance will receive a dozen Nike One Vapor golf balls, and three times throughout the season the segment winner will be awarded a PGA TOUR Experience package, which includes an all-expense paid trip to play TPC Sawgrass, TPC Las Vegas, or TPC Scottsdale.

Each week, Fantasy Golf ’09 ‘general managers’ choose an eight-man team and select a starting foursome before each round. The fantasy season is comprised of weekly contests that fall into three segments. The weekly contests generally begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday, except in the case of real-life playoff situations. The three segments include Winter (January 8 – March 29), Spring (April 2 – June 21) and Summer (June 25 – September 27).
Fantasy Golf ’09 is an extension of the relationship between Turner Sports, which operates PGATOUR.COM, and Yahoo! Sports that allows the companies to collaborate on advertising and sports-related content.
