Travel South Entertainment

The 2008 Travel South Trade Show had some great entertainment on hand for the 600 plus delegates to enjoy.    Tracy Byrd has sold 7 million records in his career and is also a  spokesperson for Hot Springs Arkansas. I am originally from Texas but have been going to Hot Springs  fishing for over a decade. I love it  so I got to know about the area so I became their spokesman, smiled  Tracy Byrd.  My first single came out in 1992 and we have had good
success and stayed around in a volatile business for almost two  decades. Last year we released our 14th record.  I write some songs  and of course Nashville is full of incredible song writers so we use  them. Keepers of the Stars, a CMA song of the year was written by one  of them.
I am on the road a ton but less these days. I do about 70 shows a year. I have 3 kids at home so they keep me busy. Even Keith Urban  ( Urban played at Biloxi that week to 11,000 fans) had a lot of  struggle for ten years losing a record deal and then coming back.
There is not any overnight success. It seems that away when you see  it, noted Byrd.  Thats what country music is all about, a message in  a song usually of love or love lost. Merle Haggert said it best -he  was a poet of the common man- and  thats kinda the way country music  is and should be. I still get letters about the song Keeper of the  Stars. It is  an inspiration at weddings and funerals. I was a fan  before a star. It is a great life. When it gets cold in Thunder Bay  you all come to Hot Springs.

Judy Whitney Davis  lives in Baton Louge, Louisiana, as an  adopted daughter who was born in Jackson Mississippi. Davis performed  a moving acappella series of songs of the south. I have been a  singer pretty much all my life. Im a preachers daughter  who grew up  in the church choir and came professional in the last four years,  smiled Judy Whitney Davis.  I work as a tour guide in Plantation,  Louisiana  but my side avocation is music. I do  everything from
commercial voice over work to weddings to Travel South. My speciality is accapella. I have had to learn to project because I have 4 kids. I grew up with these songs in my Dads church. I love spirituals, jazz, all types of music. My only cut off is rap and heavy metal.  Love Bo Diddely, Lady Day,Sarah Vaughan and listen to everything. I  enjoy Elvis. He had a solid voice.
