Our recent golf trip to the Thompson Okanagan Valley in the interior of BC started with a stop at the spectacular Sun Peaks Resort.  This 220 room facility, was almost opened after construction and burned to the gound as a result of a heater fire.  The construction process was began again and the result is a beautiful all season resort.  Nippon Cable of Japan are the owners of Sun Peaks resort as well as the Harvest Golf Course in Kelowna.  Vince Accardi is the  Director of Marketing at Tourism Sun Peaks "There are 7 hotels here, a couple B and Bs as well as lots of condos and townhomes to rent as well.  There are rental pools so people own them and rent them out for most of the year."  notes Vince Acardi, a Toronto native now living in BC.  "There are a few golf course coming as well.  Kamloops on the Lake should be breaking ground shortly.  We have the Dunes course, Sun Rivers, and our alpine course Sun Peaks."
Sun Peaks is a nine hole course with the back nine opening next year.  Most of the holes are seeded with a few more to go.  It is a Graham Cook designed course and the back nine will play much different than what we played on the front nine.  "It a little more open, more resort friendly and so it will be a good combination when you move from the front to the back.  It will feel like it has let you loose," notes Acardi.  "The front nine is seven years old.  Green fees are currently at $29 and next year it will be $56.  We will moving the price up slowly.  Sun Peaks did just under 3000 rounds last year in an alpine season from Mid June to October 1st.
Sun Peaks is a 220 room 5 star hotel, the only five star in the area complete with conference facilities and full service.  Everything you would expect from a Delta.  It will be one year old in October.  Room costs range from $99 in the summer to $300 in the winter, the peak time.  "We are a four season resort, but the main focus has been winter.  Now with the golf course completion we are building a summer clientele.  Summer is growing faster than winter."  informs Acardi.
Our twilite golf game at Sun Peaks was a lot of Fun.  The million dollar homes on the fairways, especially number 8 were spectacular.  This course will become even better with the addition of 9 more holes that will provide a different challenge to your game.
