Results Demonstrate Groove Technology Produces Greater Forward Roll for Truer and Straighter Putts
Orlando, FL, January, 2007 – Groove Equipment LTD (GEL) announced the findings of a recent independent test of putters to examine forward roll and skid, have shown that GEL putters outperformed the competition by an average of 14%. Two GEL models finished 1st and 2nd respectively and outperformed the competition by 20%. The test which was conducted by Quintic Consultancy Ltd. included three GEL models and putters from Titleist, Ping, Odyssey, Taylor Made and Yes!
On average, GEL putters reduced skid and improved forward roll by 22.1 degrees or 14% better than the competition based on a straight 20 foot putt. Forward roll was determined by capturing frame-by-frame photos for the first 10 inches after impact and analyzing the data with Quintic’s 9.03 v14 Biomechanics video analysis software. Complete test results are found below.
Further analysis showed that as a whole, the five grooved faced putters used in the test, including the three GEL models, improved forward roll 14% compared to their non-grooved counterparts. These test results provide further indication that grooved technology starts the ball rolling sooner and straighter.

"We are thrilled, but not surprised by the results found during this test," said Alec Pettigrew Managing Director of GEL. "Reducing skid is vital to becoming a consistently good putter and we feel the trend towards grooved putters will increase as more people become aware of their positive results."

Editors Note
My trial of the GEL Hurrian putter produced great results at our home course, Whitewater Golf Club Championships. While I could not beat the 67 of winner Barry Caland I was able to hole many lengthy putts as well as be more confident on the short ones.
My Gel Hurrian Putter is a mallet style with a great swinng feel on all distance putts. The slight offset of the shaft allows your eye to look right over the ball down the shaft at set up. The GEL had a tremendous feel of the ball coming off the head and putted as true as any putter I have ever used. This putter gave me a more confident feel in my putting and allowed me to make some BOMBS from 25 to 40 feet.
This is a putter you need to have in your bag!
