Have You Ever Played Golf In A Orchard?
by Scott A. Sumner
Unique to any golf course I have seen is the location amidst a working orchard of the The Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna, BC. After playing several holes on this beautiful 18 hole, 7109 designed by Grahame Cooke we were able to pick some cherries and eat them right there. Curtis Pannell is the Asst. Golf Professional at Harvest Golf Club. The course opens March 15 and closes October 31 in a normal year. Regular green fees are $99 and carts are $34. 50% of the play is walk on at the Harvest Golf Course. A full play membership is $2075 and there is a corporate system as well which includes 50 corporate passes. "Some people split then amoungst staff or give them away to clients and we never even see the corporate members, they just hand out all the passes." states Curtis Pannell. Pannell is from Ontario and has worked before at the Timberwolf course in Sudbury.
Most enjoyable about this golf experience for me was to see the beautiful fruit trees that line the fairways. The cherries were fantastic and with your supplied water cooler on the cart you can wash some up and have a fruit break. Also spectacular is the clubhouse with award winning staff and food and beverage service. Customer service is number one here and we experienced a fantastic executive style lunch. The golf course was great with stunning views of Okanagan Lake. For further information see www.canadagolf.com
